How to Take Care of Roses: Keep Them Fresh and Beautiful
Share
1. Trim the Stems Immediately
When you first receive your roses, trim 1–2 cm from the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle. This helps roses absorb water better. Use clean, sharp scissors or a floral knife.
💡 Tip: Trim stems under running water or submerged in a bowl of water to prevent air bubbles.
2. Remove Extra Leaves
Strip off any leaves that would sit below the water line in your vase. Leaves in the water can cause bacteria growth and make your roses wilt faster.
3. Use Clean Vase & Fresh Water
Choose a clean vase and fill it with room-temperature water. Add flower food if provided. If not, you can mix a teaspoon of sugar and a few drops of bleach or lemon juice.
4. Keep Roses Cool and Away From Sunlight
Place the vase in a cool area, away from direct sunlight, heaters, or air conditioners. Roses last longer in cooler environments.
5. Change Water Daily
Every day, change the water completely, rinse the vase, and re-trim the rose stems. This keeps bacteria away and helps roses stay fresh longer.
6. Mist the Petals
Lightly mist the petals with clean water once or twice a day to keep them hydrated and looking fresh.
7. Refrigerate Overnight (Optional)
To extend their life, place your bouquet in the fridge overnight. A cool environment slows wilting and helps roses last up to a week or more.
